reflections on refractions

I'd never really noticed before how beautifully the sun comes through the trees at the house I grew up in. Focused on the fact that we could not see the sunset itself, I didn't see those rays of sunlight that graced the trees on the rooftops right around me. And yet here they are:

keep in perfect peace

Each day, I must come back to these words:

“O God, you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on you;

for in returning and rest we shall be saved;

in quietness and trust shall be our strength.”

I am feeling a cool breeze through the window for the first time in several months, and I am free to breath at last. Thankful for this break.
